INSTRUCTOR PROFILEAlpha Driving School opened for business in April of 1999 in Superior, Wisconsin. In 2006 another school was added in Duluth, Minnesota. The name was chosen because the Greek word “Alpha” means first or beginning and it seemed appropriate for a school working with beginning drivers. My name is Darlene Olson and I started, own, and operate Alpha Driving School. My background includes a Master's Degree in Education from Loyola University in Chicago and extended studies in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago. While attending Roosevelt University, I taught Driver Education for Goldblatts Driving School. I also taught various subjects and worked in the counseling department in two different high schools while living in Illinois. After moving back to Wisconsin and prior to starting Alpha Driving School, I was employed by Douglas County as the Victim Witness Coordinator. In that position I worked with crime victims of all ages. Besides my years of teaching and working with high school students, I am very active in my church and community. I have sat on Boards of Directors and have worked with numerous organizations and committees. My background, creativity, and personality have provided me with the knowledge, skills and temperament to effectively teach a driver education program. I am patient and understand how to effectively communicate with the beginning driver. As an active member of the Wisconsin Professional Driving School Association, the American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association, the Professional Driving Association of Minnesota, and the Association of Professional Driving Instructors of Minnesota, I stay informed of current issues and updated laws regarding driver education. |
